Week 2: Grocery shopping
For many of us, routine grocery shopping is a major point of entry for plastics into our homes. Why not reduce plastic at the source by trying at least one of these ideas?  The environment and future generations will thank you.
– Bring reusable grocery bags (there’s already a plastic bag ban in Baltimore City and 5 cent charge per store bag)
– Get reusable cloth or mesh produce bags
– Visit a farmer’s market (and bring your own bags!) – great way to get fresh, local produce
– Consider buying in bulk and bringing a reusable container – Mom’s grocery stores are great for bulk shopping. For more options in Maryland for waste-free grocery shopping.
– For dairy milk – buy milk from local farmers in reusable glass bottles – they can be returned for the bottle deposits. Many are stocked in local grocery stores and farmer’s markets. South Mountain Creamery also offers home delivery.
