Episcopal Refugee and Immigrant Center Alliance (ERICA)

ERICA honors and ministers to the dignity and humanity of those fleeing oppression, persecution, and poverty in other countries. ERICA is a mission of the Cathedral, ERICA staff are part of the Cathedral ministry team. ERICA provides individual support to each family; ERICA’s work includes, but is not limited to, family reunification, help seeking housing, pathways to college, ESL classes, and help seeking legal resources.

Esperanza Center

Esperanza Center is a mission of Catholic Charities which provides assistance and information to immigrants with a wide array of needs, including medical, legal assistance, financial literacy, ESL classes and general resources. Esperanza is a program that complements ERICA by engaging us in community and service with primarily Spanish speaking immigrants (though you need not speak Spanish to be part of our work with Esperanza!).

Govans Ecumenical Development Corporation(GEDCO)

GEDCO was started as a means of answering a strong community need for affordable, supportive living facilities for elderly congregants with low incomes, rooted in and around the Govans neighborhood of Northeast Baltimore. GEDCO’s services now include and increased range of housing, a food pantry, and emergency financial assistance. We primarily support GEDCO’s food pantry.

Baltimoreans United in Leadership Development (BUILD)

BUILD is a broad-based, non-partisan, interfaith, multiracial community power organization. BUILD meets people face-to-face and build relationships that help to re-knit the frayed social fabric of our life. The Cathedral is engaged specifically in building relationship across the economic and racial divide in North NE Baltimore there is also city and state advocacy around vacant housing, justice system reform, and immigration.

St. Luke’s Youth Center (SLYC)

SLYC provides afterschool and summer programming and community for youth, deeply rooted in the West Baltimore neighborhoods of Poppleton and Franklin Square; and is seeking to restore the rectory of the former St. Luke’s Episcopal Church as SLYC’s permanent home. We are looking for people either to attend SLYC’s regular community dinners, or to volunteer in the afterschool program, currently housed at St. James Episcopal Church, Lafayette Square.

Sutton Scholars

Sutton Scholars is a program of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland which helps Baltimore City students (grades 8-12) become confident, competent and capable contributors to their communities by equipping them with the life skills that are essential for academic, workplace, and personal success.

Grace Villa

Grace Villa, located in Kabale, Uganda, provides a loving home and sanctuary for orphaned, abandoned, and abused children, supporting their health, academic, social, and psychological needs. 200 children are in Grace Villa’s care, and 24 girls live in the Grace Villa home itself.
